1) I Am Revenge – Joe Murena Hot off the heels from the flawless “Transparent”EP, Former Idol contestant proves that just because you don’t make it to the Top 12 doesn’t mean you don’t have talent. I was sad when he was voted off back in season 4, but over it now that he has his first full length solo album coming out. This preview of his new album due this fall is pure pop perfection. (A+)
2) Give A Little More – Maroon 5 This group has a knack for writing some of the catchiest songs custom built for radio. This song is no exception. (A-)
3) Save Me From Myself – Michael W Smith Christian artist Michael W Smith changed my life with his 1991 hit “Place In This World” and has made me a fan almost 20 years later without even being much of a religious person. He treads some new ground with this but I do miss the pop melodies he got so good at years ago. (B)
4) Second Chance – El DeBarge Yes, you read this right, El DeBarge. The “Rhythm of The Night” man of the 80’s is back and very surprisingly sounds as strong and clear as he did over 20 years ago. Welcome back El! (A-)
5) To Paris With Love – Donna Summer Don’t call it a comeback, she’s has been doing quite well staying in dance music’s eye with her string of hits two years ago from her “comeback” album ”Crayons”. She is back now with a more relaxed up tempo single which is produced quite well. The song itself may take a few listens to appreciate it’s full potential, but it’s quite worth it. (B+)
